Jess Sims, Founder

Jess has spent the last decade working with global and British brands, both in-house and agency side, helping to build their names within the UK’s media landscape. She spent almost 5 years building the UK presence of globally renowned furniture retailer, west elm, overseeing the opening in the UK and growing its presence through an impressive strategy that encompassed brand partnerships, influencer marketing, an ever-engaging event schedule, savvy PR placement and carefully developed social content. She left at the tail end of 2017 to start her own consultancy, Jess Does.
Jess Does works with brands, bloggers/influencers and small or just-launched businesses to provide them with all the tools they need to get people talking about them. She also works with creative business network, The Lifestyle Edit to host workshops and courses.
Another born-and-bred Londoner, Jess is a big foodie and feels most at home in the kitchen. Don’t get her on the topic of gin or cheese – she’s master of both and will chew your ear off for hours about her love for them both. As a Tooting resident, she’s a big fan of SW London’s food and drink scene.

Kate Baxter, Founder

Kate continues to rack up the accolades with her award-winning blog, Fabric of My Life. Having started it almost 10 years ago, right at the start of the social influencer revolution, Kate has gone on to be listed as one of The Times Online’s Top 50 Design Blogs in the World and described by The Telegraph as “one of the most successful interior Pinners”. Not only that but she’s done it all as a side line business to her day job in agency PR, developing and implementing communication strategies for independent design brands.
Straddling both sides of the industry, Kate has a multi-faceted skill-set that allows her to approach every campaign with a creative, big-picture perspective whether working with a small start-up business or an established industry player.
A born-and-bred Londoner, Kate recently relocated to the vibrant Northern city of Manchester, home to her lifelong love, Manchester United football club. Well on her way to becoming an honorary Mancunian, she spends her weekends exploring the city and its surroundings to hunt down all the best coffee spots, or enjoying the creature comforts of her new apartment. She’s also a massive X Files geek – don’t get her started on David Duchovny!

Jess and Kate met almost a decade ago. Jess headed up the digital arm of the agency she was working at and got to know Kate in the early days of Fabric of My Life’s launch. They’ve shared several margaritas, Flat Whites and non-stop conversations since and now they’re both working for themselves, are super excited to be joining forces and combining their talents to drive change in the industry they both love.
